Ramona The Pest A Childhood Classic

Today I decided to take a break from My historical fiction book and take a trip back to my childhood and read a book for the Heart of a Child Challenge. I Chose Ramona The Pest.
Once again I fell in love with this little girl who was starting kindergarten and wanted so much to be "big" girl that she ended up in all sort of mishaps. From making her tricycle in to a two wheeler to dropping out of kindergarten until her teacher ended up missing her. I really had a wonderful time reading this book Ramona is a classic that all of who grew up in the 80's should revisit.

My Favorite Childhood Book

The Girl With Silver Eyes By Wilo Davis Roberts

The teacher gathers us around her in the reading circle to start the day's chapter of The Girl With Silver Eyes. Katie becomes our friend we all wonder what it would have been like to have a girl like her in our class. Then all of a sudden Katie's book is finished and we all grow up and move on. Vowing to never forget our adventures with Katie the girl with silver eyes.
The Girl with Silver Eyes was one of my favorite books as a child it is definitely a book I will be revisiting soon. My 11 year old daughter has expressed a interest in reading this book as well we just have to see who is going to read it first.
Katie is different from all the kids around her. she can make things move just by thinking about them . She thinks she is all alone in the world with her secret "powers" but is she really? Check the book out and see for yourself what fun this book is.

Can't Wait For These Releases

Since the begining of this year I have been waiting for the release of the following books.
According to subject listed below.

Historical Novels

Philippa Gregory

The Other Queen

The Ancipated book about Mary Queen of Scots

The Women Who Raised me
Victoria Rowell
As a fan of the daytime drama The Young and the Restless I am a bit bias on this choice. Not only was Victoria one of my favorite actresses on the show ,She also grew up in foster care. I can not wait to read her account of the system and how it changed her life. Victoria Rowell who is well known for her Role as Drucilla Winters has written her memoirs about her life in foster care.
Her book The Women Who Raised Me has been on my wish list since I heard it about last year. The paper back edition is due to be released May 1, 2008.
Ms. Rowell is a fervent advocate for foster children and founded The Rowell Foster Children's Positive Plan in 1990.She has been nominated twice for a Daytime Emmy and awarded eleven NAACP Image Awards.

Three Little Words

Three Little Words was a memoir of a young lady who grew up in the fostercare system.
as a former residential home child my self I was really interested in this book. I read the enitre book in one sitting the author had so many similar stories that mirrored my own I could not put this book down. I highly recomend this book to any one who was caught up in the foster care system as a child it will bring tears to your eyes and make you smile that you survived.
