The Family By Mario Puzo

Summary:THE FAMILY brings the lawless world of 15th-century Rome to vivid life, revealing the secrets of the Vatican just as Mario Puzo once laid bare the mysteries of the Mafia. This extraordinary epic revolves around Rodrigo Borgia, Pope Alexander VI, a larger than life hero propelled by a myriad of passions-power, faith, luxury, women, and an all-powerful love of family. While his blessings are sought by kings and peasants alike, enemies from within and abroad plot his demise. As Alexander strives to restore glory to the Catholic Church and unify the city-states of Italy, he also seeks to direct the lives of his beloved children. But for all Alexander's love and might, he cannot reverse the legacy of sin that is revisited upon his children.
My Thoughts:
Last year when the buzz about The Borgia's was started I started looking around for some interesting books on the First crime family as the author called them. My brother told me about The Family and swore it was excellent. I have to agree with him this book was awesome! From the first page I was sucked in to Italy and the world of the Borgia's . Their cunning and conniving ways make Henry VIII look like an angel. I can not wait for this series to start I really hope they consider giving us 4 seasons like the Tudors this story is definitely worth telling.

If you are looking for something to give you the basic background of the Borgia's try this book you won't be dissapointed.
