Summer in a Small Town: Welcome to icicle falls by Shelia Roberts

Summary:
Welcome to Icicle Falls by Sheila Roberts

It's the 1960s and Muriel loves the beautiful town of Icicle Falls, Washington. Life is good, except that her father expects her to run Sweet Dreams, the family chocolate company, when he retires. But she has sweet dreams of her own, dreams about a handsome stranger who comes to town….

Decades later, Cass Wilkes lands in Icicle Falls as a single mom with little money. But this small town has a way of giving people second chances they don't expect!
My Thoughts:
This is actually the prequel to Better than Chocolate. I think it should have been included in the BTC book as a bonus  because it sets the scenes so well for the next book a very short story but a cute one as well.  it gives you a little bit more background story to Muriel's first husband Stephen and shares a little bit more about her relationship with Pat the bookshop owner.  The only sad thing is that it is a Kindle only book so people who are interested in the series may miss this one. this is the reason why it should be included in another icicle falls book some time in the future.

In the Mail box

It has been awhile since i have done a Mailbox post but this past week i have had several gems make it to my house.
First off isa rare out of print book called The Glitter and The Gold by Micheal Dyne The Glitter and the Gold tells the story of George IV of England and his relationship with Maria Fitherbert.King George IV and his long-time relationship with Maria Fitzherbert, a Catholic  widow whom he secretly married before ascending the throne.
The Second book that found it's way to my mail box is from Revell Publishers

Jilted by a fortune hunter, cowgirl Cassidy McClare is a spunky Texas oil heiress without a fortune who would just as soon hogtie a man as look at him. Hoping a summer visit with her wealthy cousins in San Francisco will help her forget her heartache, Cassidy travels west. But no sooner is she settled in beautiful California than Jamie McKenna, a handsome pauper looking to marry well, captures her heart. When Jamie discovers the woman he loves is poorer than he is, Cassidy finds herself bucked by love a second time. Will Jamie discover that money can't buy love after all? And can Cassidy ever learn to fully trust her heart to a man?

With delectable descriptions and a romantic sensibility, bestselling author Julie Lessman brings the Gilded Age to life in this sumptuous new series. Readers will faithfully follow Lessman to the West Coast for more romance, passion.

Better than Chocolate By Shelia Roberts

Summary:Sweet Dreams Chocolate Company has been in the Sterling family for generations, ever since Great-Grandma Rose literally dreamed up her first fabulous recipe. But now it looks as if they're about to lose Sweet Dreams to the bank—and that would be a disaster, not only for the family but for the town of Icicle Falls, Washington. Can Samantha, the oldest daughter and new head of the company, come up with a way to save it?
After Samantha does some brainstorming with her mother and sisters, inspiration strikes. They'll have a chocolate festival! Time's running out, but the Sterling women are determined and the town's behind them, so everything's bound to go smoothly…. Or not. Events seem to be conspiring against Samantha, and her mother's attempts to help aren't helping. To make matters worse, the fate of her company is in the hands of her archenemy, Blake Preston, the bank manager with the football-hero good looks. It's enough to drive her to chocolate. But Blake's also enough to convince her that (believe it or not) there's something even better than chocolate.

My Thoughts:
This adorable  book arrived  at my home last week from  Harlequin for me to review since I am on their review team. Usually they send me things I am not interested in  and I pass them on to people in my own small town.  I loved  how the book began you just fell right in to the story of Samantha and her family's quest to save thier company from the bank.  Samantha's dreams are hilarious!  this is a great start to a series but I have done my research and found that Muriel's story is included in a anthology called Summer in a Small Town: Welcome to Icicle Falls/Treasure Beach.
There are 2 other books in the series as well
Merry EX-mas  and  What She Wants  they will all be reviewed here soon since  I have purchased them all for my Kindle. If you liked the Cedar Cover series by Debbie Macomber  you will enjoy Robert's series. I would suggest picking up a bag of chocolates to enjoy while you read Better than Chocolate because you will crave it while enjoying this yummy book!
